Let There Be Slime!

October 21, 2007

Today we have held our 9th Missions Possible service in our new children’s auditorium. The day was filled with many surprises: a visit from Electrophorese man, a drama performance by eighteen of our World Changers and the first time EVER use of our “Slime Chamber”.

The service started off with Joel, Kristen and Madelaine performing a monologue about how they are used by God. The kids were totally mesmerized by their presentation. The service was off to a good start.

After a short mission’s video featuring kids in the missions’ field, the band kicked it off with “There is No One Like You”. Our praise team was fantastic! Over a 130 kids singing, clapping and dancing all for the glory of God! What a beautiful sight.

Oct 7th: Communion

October 7, 2007

Title: Communion

Memory Verse: “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” – Luke 22:19

Bible Lesson: The Last Supper – Luke 22:14-22

That’s Good to Know: Communion is a picture of what God does for us.

Fifth Grade – That’s the Life!

September 23, 2007
World Changers 092307

Today after service we took the World Changers to Fuddruckers for lunch. I have to say, I have never seen kids eat so much food! Milkshakes, Cokes, French fries, loaded nachos, chicken nuggets, hamburgers (one kid ate a pound of beef by himself) and free chocolate chip cookies, all consumed in less than 10 minutes. I thought for a moment, “How wonderful it must be to eat carefree without the fear of gaining 10 pounds.” Well, they had enough of that and were ready for the next event – “bowling.” Have you ever tried to gather 31 fifth graders into a straight line, get their shoe size correct, and move them down the bowling alley? It’s like herding cats! <Then it starts! “Can we go to the concession stand?” More Cokes, popcorn, pretzels, nachos and personal size pizzas; where do they put all this food? Oh, need I ask the question? Eating turns into fuel and fuel translated = adults better keep up or be left behind.

Prayer – The Adventure Begins

September 18, 2007

I love this time of year in Georgia. The cool air and the beautiful weather is just inspiring. Yes, inspiring enough to go out for a jog around the block. The other day as I was jogging, the Lord really impressed upon my heart that I do not spend enough time in His presence seeking His face. Sure, I pray, as it says in the book of 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “without ceasing.” I also pray for the needs and direction of this ministry, as well as the children, families and volunteers that He has entrusted us with. The question remains, do we make the time to be one on one with Him? As I reflected on Sunday’s Missions Possible service and the lesson that was taught on being faithful, I realized that for us to be in a place to be used by God, we must first be in a place that God can use us. To know the will of God, it is imperative for us to spend time in His presence asking, “Father your will be done.”

Every Tuesday morning, the children’s ministry staff has committed to spend time in His presence from 8:30am -9:00am. I am asking you to join us; not necessarily on the campus physically, but in your cars, office or your homes. As we join together, I am confident that we will truly “connect” with the heavenly Father and be able to accomplish His will.

SUNDAY RECAP: Someone Special

September 9, 2007

Whew! The kids had no school on Monday and it showed this morning, they were full of energy. I always look at it this way: it keeps me on my toes and feeling young.

I would like to welcome Kim, Molly, Mikala, and Ann to our Power Cell rotation. It’s great to have you as part of the team. I’m grateful God is sending loving individuals to be part of the ministry, especially in the Power Cell arena. I had an opportunity to observe in each room. I was impressed with how easily our kids took to them. I can’t stress the importance of the ministry opportunity the Power Cells give us.
