September 2nd: Kid Serve

August 28, 2007Worship, even when you don’t feel like it!
August 26, 2007Well, as far as Sundays go, we’ve closed the book on August. But we are only beginning to open the door on what God has in store. As I sit and ponder on today’s services the following thoughts come to mind:
-5th grade Power Cell: the new layout/setup was well received by the 5th graders, I got a lot of “cool” and “awesome” out of them. The graduating 5th – now 6th graders admitted they were jealous. If you didn’t get a chance to check out their new digs, let me fill you in: we took out all the tables & chairs and outfitted the room with bean bags and game rockers. We added some lighting effects and wall art. In addition, 5th graders now have the opportunity to buy a Jones soda and snack during their power cell.
August 26th: Hard Times? Worship God!

The Good 2 Know videos are going to be posted here to the Children’s ministry blog. We’ll try to get the up ahead of Sunday so that the Power Cell teachers can preview the Video before the service. I hope this helps!
Missions Possible
August 19, 2007Well, today was our Missions Possible “Back to School Bash”. Our attendance was up forty percent over our average, with ten first time guests. We gave away a lot of school supplies; almost every child received something. Many of them took home some really neat stuff. The morning started off with a few bumps and missed cues; what about that black-light puppet? Praise the Lord we put it together just in time for the second service. After a little warm-up, the band sounded awesome and the worship leaders totally ruled! Mr. Steve H. filled a huge hole for us by playing the keyboard. Our original player was unable to make it, at the last minute. Judging by his rock star performance, you’d never have guessed he locked himself out of the house while loading up the keyboard. YOU RULE MAN!!!
The kids seemed mesmerized and at the same time, totally into it; I guess that’s all that counts…. Our World Changers have grown into these cool little ministers. They have blown us away with their acting, singing, dancing, and meeting the needs of our younger ones. In some sense they are capable of running an entire Sunday morning without us (although I’m not ready to test that theory out just yet). I was very encouraged to see so many young people take the challenge and make a public stand to be “fishers of men”. I truly believe that these young people will uphold their commitment and share the good news – in school, on the practice field and in their neighborhoods. What’s more I’m grateful that these young people are surrounded with Godly men and women that share their lives as examples every Sunday.
As I prayed for this week’s service, I felt God speak to me that all we have to is give our best to Him and He will do the rest. The Lord keeps teaching me something new every week. I can’t wait for next Sunday. Pastor Joey
